• Obvious 3D rendering differences between CC2020 & CC2018 (Mac)

Hello -

As a packaging agency, we use a lot the 3D possibilities of Photoshop.
Currently we are still using CC2018 because the 3D rendering of this version of CC gives a correct rendering.

We would like to switch to CC 2020 (minimum), but while testing the rendering in this version we noticed a lot of differences in the rendering.
The result is dirtier (sometimes even much dirtier), there are here and there artifacts that appear (like small white/grey squares, ...).
See the attached example. The upper visual is rendered in CC2020 and the lower visual is rendered in CC2018 (our reference).
Bot versions of Photoshop have been parametred in the same way and yet the rendering is not the same one.

Then why are there such differences in the rendering?

NB. We do not wish to use Adobe Dimension.

Thank you for your help.

Have a nice day.

The material system has been changed from a specular workflow (Diffuse/Glossiness/Specular) to a metalness workflow (BaseColor/Metalness/Roughness) and old material textures do not directly transfer to the newer system. You would need to remake/adjust the texture maps for the new system.

However in addition to that, the current implementation of 3D in Photoshop is buggy, and we have not seen any bug fixes for 3D issues for a long time. Personally I have abandoned Photoshop for 3D rendering and use a full 3D application (Blender 3D is free, powerful and has much faster rendering)

Another example to show how bad it looks in CC2020 (vs CC2018).

Any idea why?  Thank you
