Question

Odd Shaped Canvas

I'm new to Photoshop so please bear with me if this is a simple task to perform.

I've got a picture of 3 paintings which I would like to use in a photo album, although I am only able to upload jpegs to their website.  I know that jpegs don't let you save transparent backgrounds such as PNG or TIF files, but I was wondering if it is possible to save the image to the shape of the 3 paintings itself, instead of a rectangular canvas that photoshop is giving me?

I guess it's like saving a round picture of the moon only, without having a square background around it.

Any help would be appreciated.

You can have clipping path in JPEG, if the online service you're using supports it

Good point Kenneth. You can indeed create a path, save the path and save it in the jpeg. Note this is additional metadata (the jpeg standard does not have paths) so will depend very much on whether the user at the other end, is using an application that will read it and use it.

    Hi

The canvas is always rectangular so the only way around it is to use transparency, with a file format that supports it, or leave the border area white and trim it after printing.
