Question

On-canvas glyph alternatives not popping up

Hi everyone.

I am currently on Photoshop 23.5.1. I was previously on Photoshop CC 2015.

In the previous version, glyph alternatives pop up when i hover my mouse over highlighted Text.

However this has disappeared after I upgraded to the latest version.

I have checked that my Photoshop Preferences are set to "Enable Type Layer Glyph Alternates". But this same issue still exists, wherein no popups show when i hover over my highlighted text.

I do a lot of font work and this saves me a ton of time. Has anyone experienced this issue? Is there a way to solve this or is this a bug?

Thank you.

@eunices6290007

The first question is: what typeface are you using? One possibility is that the typeface you are using has no alternate glyphs and we need to check that first.

Can you show a screenshot with a line of text selected and the Glyphs panel (Window menu) showing?

The icon in the lower right of the glyphs indicates the ones that has alternates. Not all do.

I'm having the same issue.

My only workaround is to right-click and select "show alternatives for selection" and then the little box of glyphs shows up. But this used to be a hover state and it was really awesome.

Sucks that it was deactivated in the update.

There has to be a setting to get this back...

I'm having the same issue.

I found it.... go to settings / Type and add the check box to enable Type layer glyph alternates.

Mr Imagination,

The OP had Type Layer Glyph Alternates enabled. You have a different issue.
