Question

opening images

When opening an image file that  previously went through the digital negative converter, the image automatically opens up in the negative converter for some reason. Then I have to click on "open image" to get the image out of the digital neg converter, in to PS. Why is that?

If you update your photoshop cs5 to camera raw 6.7,  then you should be able to open the D7000 nefs directly into photopshop via the camera raw interface without first needing to convert to dng.

Even though you converted the camera raw files from your camera to dng copies, they are still considered camera raw files, just in a different file format (adobes camera raw format) and thus the dng files still open in camera raw so you adjust them just like you would be able to to do with the native camera raw files if your photoshop version supported the necessary newer camera raw plugin that supports your particular camera.

What operating system, version of photoshop and camera are you using?
