OSX Can subscribe whatever version I can run?

I'm finally considering letting go of of stand alone PS6 and LR6and diving into software rental.

I have a screaming 2009 MacPro 5.1 that can't go beyond 10.14.x Mojave, and I have no intention of buying new hardware.

My simple question is, can I just subscribe to the latest versions of PS and LR for which my box meets the system requirements? Or is it the latest version or nothing?

That appears to be:
Lightroom 3.x

(I'm also wondering why they're so opaque about system requirements: I had to dig to find them.)

Thank you for your kind words, @macdls , and I'm happy to help. I also need to apologize, though, because I meant to add the link for system requirements and it slipped my mind.

 

System requirements for the current version are here:

Then scroll down to "More like this" and there is a link for earlier releases.

 

That takes you to this page with links for 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021 (as of today):

You'll be able to click each of the four links to see which version will work with your system.

 

 

 

Remember that you do have 14 days to confirm that it works! There is also a month-to-month plan that is not an annual plan and can be cancelled sooner — but the annual plan has a greatly reduced rate over the month-to-month.

There are several sites that list the versions and OS. Here's one that says you can use PS 2021 with macOS 10.14:

2021 (22.0) macOS 10.14, Windows 10 or newer   October 20, 2020

23.1 macOS 10.15, Windows 10 (1909) or newer   December 2021

 

Adobe only offers downloads for the current and one previous version. However, ProDesign Tools has direct downloads for earlier versions that work with your paid subscription. Check to see if he has one you can use.

If you only want PS and LR, note that there is a Photography plan (annual) for $9.99 per month.

 

You can get a 7-day free trial to see if it works on your system. I don't know is you can use the older versions with the trial or not. But you can also cancel an annual plan within 14 days. Do not let this date slip by you — cancel if it doesn't work.

Your subscription includes downloads to newer versions, so when you eventually upgrade your system, you can put PS and LR on both computers as a single user and use the newer version on the computer that supports it.

    You can roll back a few versions, NOT all! The oldest version is:

    I had already found the system requirements page, but the page where Adobe is trying to sell the product makes no mention of system requirements. I call that opaque.

    Now I'm wondering why they list system requirements for versions they no longer support.
