Hi All,
Apologies for the flashing/strobing you're experiencing when opening files, this tends to affect older graphics cards (GPU) that don't support all of the aspects of DirectX 12.
For Windows:
For macOS:
We would like to find out if there are any of you on Windows for whom:
A. Use Older GPU Mode is Checked, and
B. Deactivate Native canvas is Unchecked, and
C. are still experiencing this strobing issue with a GPU that supports DirectX 12?
If so, could you please provide Photoshop's Help > System Info dialog text in this thread?

Hi @kathyv29656185 a couple things to try:
Go to Preferences > Technology Previews... and check "Disable Native Canvas" - then restart Photoshop. Does the problem still occur?
Go to Preferences > Technology Previews... and enable “Older GPU mode (pre 2016)” - Restart Photoshop. Does the problem persist?

Hi Bettina,
If you can't find the Preferences panel, you may be on macOS.
There is a translate button at the bottom of the Reply window.

Thank you, it works! Older GPU mode (pre 2016)! I will explain in Polish now 🙂 Photoshop migające na czarno biało okno pliku, reszta paneli nie miga. Rozwiązanie problemu to: edycja> preferencje> zapowiedzi technologii> włączyć tryb starszych GPU (przed rokiem 2016)

Preferences > Technology Previews... and check "Disable Native Canvas" - then restart Photoshop - worked for me too on Win 10 where the layer would show up oaky but the workspace remained all white (on any file opened directly or through LR).

I got the flashing strobe when "Use Graphics Processor" was selected.
I selected "Deactivate Native Canvas" and that appeared to correct the problem.
NOTE: "Older GPU Mode (pre 2016)" is unchecked, and I'm using Windows 11 with an NVIDIA Quadro K420 GPU that supports DirectX 12.
Thank you for the fix!
