P: Program error while opening or creating new document after Photoshop 22.1 update [2020]

Since yesterday's update, can´t even open a jpg file. Always says: Could not complete your request because of a program error. I need to work.

05/20 update: We have resolved another program error issue while dragging assets from libraries to the artboard in Photoshop 22.4.1 update. Could you please update Photoshop to the 22.4.1 version via the Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop app and let us know your feedback.

I am constantly having the issue of not being able to save my work because of "Program Errors" - I even sometimes have trouble exporting work to other formats.

Not sure what is going on, but this is getting ridiculous!

I have to frequently save my work, because once I encounter the error, I end up losing all of my progress.

Soo frustrating.

You have already tried to change the file from 8bit to 16bit?
It worked for me. I no longer have this problem with these files.

So renaming that folder to "~com.adobe.unifiedpanel" seems to have fixed it for me. At least for first tests. Will update if I run into any more trouble. Thanks

Nothing is fixed. It's awful and I can't work at all. You can save only when layers are invisible, after that when you turn them on you see only a few not all. Can't use the move tool. Can't export in any format, basically you can't work on this version 221. I can't understand how you haven't been able to fix these issues for so long and it seems like you did nothing but giving wrong solutions - https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/program-error-opening-psd.html#Programerrorwhileopeningfiles. We all want an answer when we will be able to continue working normally!

I am no longer able to use the Move tool. This rollout is similar to the

da qualche giorno, utilizzando alcuni degli strumenti presenti nel programma, compare il seguente messaggio di errore "Impossibile completare la richiesta poiché si è verificato un errore del programma."

Chiaramente ciò non mi permette di utilizzare alcuni strumenti come il pennello correttivo o il pennello correttivo al volo.

Potete per cortesia suggerirmi come procedere per risolvere il problema?

Would you mind sharing when exactly are you getting the program error? What all tools are you encountering the issue with?

Please note that there is a known issue with Photoshop version 22.x related to Program Error and our engineers are working towards a fix.

Hello Akash,

I tried some solutions indicated in the community but after some minutes the error message comes back.

This problem affects the healing brush tool and the spot healing brush tool and it's not possible for me to use them.

Could it be a good idea to uninstall a install again Photoshop?

Hello - this absdolutely DID NOT FIX any issue for me at all. Still the same Program Error when trying to open ANYTHING. I am unable to use this version of PS (2021) after completing EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOUR OUTLINED STEPS. Are you going to tell me I did something wrong and that's why it's not working? It's obvious from all the other replies SINCE OCTOBER that you still HAVE NOT FIXED THE PROBLEM!

So what's it going to be? I need this to work so I can support my family. Please help me fix this program I am PAYING MONTHLY for!!

They won't help. I've had no luck with any of the CC versions, as the update messed them all up. However I did get CS6 to work via this download - doesn't have some bells and whistles in CC2021, but still does all I need (including smart objects & smart filters). Hope it helps. Better than nothing.

The issue persist, I already uninstalled Photoshop, restarted my laptop and installed the newest version from Creative Cloud. The error Could not complete your request because of a program error. keeps popping up when working with layers. Please fix it. Workarounds are not solutions. They would be in a free software, but for the money I pay monthly. This is unacceptable!

moi aussi j'ai le même message .
psd 2021 + Mac Big Sur (ordi du 2017)
j'ai partitionné le disque principal,car d'abord c'était un problème de disques saturés, j'ai fait rouler le adobe cleaner, maintenant c'est "erreur du programme". lol? C'est quand même pas correct de lancer sur le marché un truc pas prêt et pas compatible avec les mises à jours des systèmes les plus achetés dans le monde et le faire payer à prix plein so sad

Honestly this Program Issue started happening with Photoshop 2021 for me. I reinstalled Photoshop 2020 and use it when I encounter this issue. Something seems to be askew with the drawing engine. Couldn't save certain files nor could I turn certain objects in certain files to smart objects. Opening the file in Photoshop 2020... no issues.

After the update get a program error everytime I try to create a new file or open any old file.

Update made PhotoShop useless.

default, if you google more you'll find threads on bugs for previous versions of PS going back years where the programmers say "this is a known bug and we're working on it". Those threads have no solutions posted.

I'd say 50/50 at best.

Check out this old installer URL - you can download the actual installers (I STRONGLY advise you to DL and KEEP them, as Adobe pull them on a whim). The only version of PS that I was able to get working on my machine (which was damaged by the new version) was CS6 - which can be accessed there. Sure it doesn't have some of the newer bells and whistles, but it's got smart objects and smart filters, and should be good for most needs.

Hope that helps, sure beats waiting for a fix from these jokers.
