Path covert pen tool script

Is there an easy way in a script to loop over all points ona  path and reset the bezier curve to a straight lines (like it's been clicked on with the Convert Pen Tool)

OR... do all the left and right handles of the bezier curve have to be calculated and then reset? (which looks to be a pain)

ie turn the path from the image on the left to the one on the right.
