Question

Pattern Scaling

The Scale feature of Pattern Fill Layers is next to worthless. Her is a screenshot of one of the stock patterns @100%:

Zoom level is 600% to show the Pixel Grid.

Here is a 100% Pattern Fill converted to a Smart Object, and scaled to 63% using Bicubic:

Not too bad for an odd amount of scaling, but a Pattern Fill at 63% looks horrible:

Plus, the Pattern Fill scaling control only allows integer percentages, but using SOs allows fractional values, as well as non-proportional, rotation, and even Warp transform. The down side is you may need an extra Edit Contents step to resize its canvas.

Jarda Bereza, didn’t you post a Request on this a while back?

Yes that is your first link. And it is not bilinear. Bilinear has better results :-D

But it’s not Nearest Neighbour, so it seems to be something altogether different than the standard resampling methods available in the Photoshop Preferences.

Anyway, 2 votes for an improved resampling method and forty-odd for rotatable Patterns does not seem like an impressive turn-out …

Patterns seem to be scaled with something like Bilinear.

Maybe you should check out existing Feature Requests and add your vote:
