Pen is not selecting text values. It is drawing lines and periods which fill the text field.

I cannot select text/numerical fields with the pen, it's very frustrating!. I use a wacom tablet.

When I want to use the pen to select a text/value field, previously and normally, one would just click the pen tip and drag. For example, you creat a new document and want to change the default width value in the text box. Normally, you click the pen tool and highlight the numerical value and type a different value.

NOW, when I click and drag to select, it draws a line further down in the window, and then somehow translates that into a character like a "-" and puts it in the field. So, where it said "800", it suddenly says "-800", if I try to select again, it'll often draw another line or dot, and 'translate' the character and add that other character like a period, or an equals sign in the field, resulting in ".=-800" I don't understand why this is happening and it is driving me crazy.

Hey all it's me again but I think I found a way to fix it. It's a windows ink thing
In windows 11 there is a setting called "Shell Handwriting" it's under Bluetooth & Devices> Pen & Windows Ink. Turn that off and for me, it completely fixed the issue.

I have no idea why this exists or turned itself on randomly but I hope it helps yall out like it did me! Don't forget to restart you computer after turing this setting off.

I have something similar going on. When I use sliders in Photoshop with my Wacom pen it appears to draw a line sometimes on the slider "box". (Sorry, senior brain, can't think of the correct term) Sometimes when i attempt to move a slider, it inserts random punctuation marks into the box where you would enter a number. Periods, commas, or quotation marks. Then of course i get a message to enter an inter between 1 and 100, for instance. All I want to do is move the slider, not enter a number. Very annoying. Does not happen with the mouse, only the Wacom pen.

Yes, this. It's not something similar, it's the same problem I have. It's a bug, or an incompatibility between the newest Wacom drivers and Photoshop or something, but it would be great it there is a solution or it could be fixed.

I am not seeing this with a Wacom on two machines. Try double-clicking the layer icon in the Layers panel. Also, I always select text with the Move tool, that works much better.

I am having this exact issue too as well but for me it extends beyond photoshop. I am having this problem in notepad and chrome windows as well. The pen will not hilight text and instead draws a line further down and adds a comma, period, or some other symbol. I have tried reinstalling the driver, restarting my machine, fully resetting photoshop preferences and it's all not fixing it.

This happens in Photoshop Beta and the "real" version. I have no issue in other programs such as Rebelle and Clip Studio using sliders with my Wacom pen.  I also have no issues in Camera Raw. Let's say I want to change a layer opacity using the slider. Several things happen. When I drag the pen, various punctuation marks show up instead of the number. Usually one or more periods, but sometimes comma or a hyphen. Then of course I get a message to insert an integer between 1-100. Another thing that happens sometimes but not all the time, is a "line" is drawn below the slider as I move the pen, as if I were drawing on the canvas. This all very frustrating. I have no problem moving the sliders with a mouse. I am working in Windows 11.

With the new Windows do the following.  Search for Pen and Ink Settings under Blue Tooth,  Then turn off Use Your Handwriting to Enter Text.  This fixed the issue for me using my XP-PEN tablet.
