Question

Pen pressure sensitivity not working with Asus stylus

I have an asus touch screen laptop that can flip around and turn into a tablet. The stylus that comes with it has pressure sensitivity in 'writing' apps like OneNote and Word but not for drawing in photoshop. I tried to turn on pen pressure in shape dynamics but it comes up with a little "!" icon next to it. How can I configure the pen to be able to draw with?? Or does photoshop just not work well with this stylus 😞

Hi there,

This is not a typical experience as pressure sensitivity on your Asus touch tablet is not working in Photoshop as expected, sorry to hear about this.

Let's work to isolate what you're seeing:

  • First, make sure that the driver is installed, and that your tablet is connected correctly to the computer.
  • Update the version of Photoshop you're using from the Creative Cloud desktop app.
  • Update the tablet driver from manufacturer's website.
  • Reset the driver preferences to ensure that a specific setting isn't causing your pen issues.
  • Next, try to test the pen in a different software.
  • For more generic troubleshooting, please refer this tech note https://helpx.adobe.com/in/photoshop/kb/tablet-support-faq-photoshop.html

Let us know if the above steps helps.

Thanks,

Akash

Hi! thank you for getting back to me. I might've not been super clear. I have a bamboo wacom tablet that works fine with pen pressure, but what im struggling with is using the pen that actually comes with the laptop itself. The one that you can use on the screen of the laptop, if that makes sense. I'm also using an older version of Photoshop (CS6) which I bought before creative cloud was introduced. Are these just incompatible? Thank you again!!

I have the same issue with an ASUS Stylus 2 pen. It works fine in Illustrator but not in Photoshop. I can select tools, change settings etc in PS using the stylus, but drawing does nothing. Did you manage to solve this issue?

I am wondering if the Bamboo Drivers are interfering with the ASUS Stylus drivers?
