Pen Tool question

I have been using the pen tool for a short time now and I'm quickly discovering how useful it is.

But a quick question: when I am using the pen tool, how do I start a new segment without it automatically attaching to the previous segment series? I would like to make a few separate line segments in the same work space without all of the lines connecting together.

If that isn't clear, please let me know!

Thank you,

Fletcher

Hi FletcherD:

The assumption is that you want to continue adding line segments to the path. To let Photoshop know you are done:

  • Cmd click away from the path if you are on a Mac (as per c.pfaffenbichler)
  • Ctrl click away from the path on Windows
  • Press Esc on either platform
  • Click once on the Pen tool

The Pen tool is baffling for beginners—but if you stick with it, it's pretty great.
