Hi

I also would use a Hue/Saturation adjustment set to colorize but, slightly different to creative explorer, I would add it as an adjustment layer. That way there is no need to duplicate the original layer and to see the image with or without the adjustment you simply turn the visibility of the adjustment layer on and off (eye icon). The image layer is not touched at all through this process and if you decide later that you want a different colour then you simply click on the adjustment layer and change the colour again.

To do that:

1. Make a selection of the dress, you can use the quick select tool it does not have to be perfect.

2. In the adjustments panel click on Hue&Saturation. This will add an adjustment layer with a mask that is based on your selection.
3. You can fine tune the mask by clicking on it and painting with black or white

4. Make your adjustments with the sliders - in the properties panel

5. Use the visibility icon (eye) to turn the adjustment layer on and off for comparison.

Note: While the Hue and Saturation layer works well for changing the colour of an object with similar brightness, it does not work so well if changing from a very dark shade to a very light shade or vice versa. In that case, also add a curve layer, with the same mask, and use the curve to adjust the brightness first.

@Osman_1982

  1. Duplicate the layer. This is a good practice in case you want to go back to the original image. Or see the before and after effect too
  2.  You need to isolate the dress from the background. There are many different ways, but since you are new to this, maybe try using the Quick Selection Tool. This works well, if there is a good contrast against the background. Click and drag over the dress. Adjust the brush size using the square bracket keys [ (smaller) and ] (bigger) for finer control.
    • Check the Colorize box—great for changing to a specific color
    • Use the Hue slider to choose the desired color
    • Adjust the Saturation slider to control the intensity of the color
    • Use the Lightness slider to make the color lighter or darker Chose Hue/Saturation. Image - Adjustments - Hue/Saturation (Control U).  A Hue/Saturation Panel will pop open
      In the Properties panel:
  3.  When ready, click on OK
  4.  You can look at the previous layer to see the before by hiding the the duplicate layer.
