If the photo was edited and save to jpeg file (same filename) by photoshop, can we restore the photo to original?

If you resaved a jpeg with the same name after editing it and then closed it, then no, there is no going back unless you have backups.

 

If the file has not been closed yet, you can use the History panel (Window menu) to return to the Open State.

 

A better workflow is:

  • always make a copy before editing
  • never re-save a jpeg — it's lossy and loses information when edited and saved
  • work in tiff or psd, save, then save to jpeg once. Repeat when there are edits.
  • use an automatic back up system — Time Machine is built into macOS, there are outside vendors for Windows

 

Also, if you save to the Cloud with psdc files, you can retrieve an earlier version.

Can I know the date &time of the original screen capture photo after editing and save it to JEPG by photoshop?
