Question

photomerge CS 6 is not working, any hints?

I am trying to create a simple three image panorama.  I shot the images (an interior) using a shift lens, this has always worked very easily in CS5.

in Bridge I go to the Photoshop photomerge feature, select the three files - it opens up one of the files creates the photomerge layer but ignors the other two files.  I have tried many different configuations, making sure all three files are highlighted in blue,  auto and perspective always the same outcome one image plus an empty photomerge layer.

I've read through the archives that seem to address hdr - I've repaired my permisions using disk utilty do I need to throw away my photoshop permissions and if so how do I do that again? (mac 2008 tower 10.6.8)

Thanks for any help and or insights.

Jeff

Do you have a LOT of free space on the drive you have designated to Photoshop as "scratch"?

The scratch disk is set to an empty drive in the number one spot, with the boot drive set as number two, twenty four Gb of Ram in CS5 I have worked on much much larger pans.

I will test the manually align although I need to get the photomerge feature to work as it is a time saver or it's over to AutoPanPro

thanks for the insights

I truly didn't intend to be rude however I am trying to solve a problem that is ruining my morning - I was a fool to upgrade into CS 6 at this date expressed in my other thread on PS crashing.  I'm all ears about learning new photoshop techniques if there are specific tweaks I need to make.  Will try the Graphics Processor as I said I fixed the opening of the file by throwing away PS's prefences of course in my rush lost my actions.  All of my Adobe software is up to date as well as my OS

"I'm betting you or your computer did something to screw up the file, not Photoshop"

May I ask for your insights on what I might of done to screw up the file? Like i said I opened it fine,  then tried the photomerge and again a corrup file that couldn't be opened, the only software opened is photoshop, bridge, and occasionally mail if I'm doing something wrong I need to know what it is.

Thanks for any insights.

p.s. yes a Raw Cr2 file

Okay, let's see if we can nail this problem down, then.

I'm not as familiar with Mac as PC, but I believe both environments provide indications / logs that would show disk failures if there are any.  Do you see any such indications?  It's not impossible a drive could fail.

You've said it's a raw Canon CR2 file.  What camera?  A model just added?

Do you have Camera Raw 7.0 or 7.1 installed in your system?

Exactly what happens when you try to open the file when it doesn't work?  Do you get an error message?

Does this also happen if you load the three images into one file and trigger Edit > Auto Align Layers manually?

Trashing prefs can be done by keeping command-alt-shift/ctrl-alt-shift pressed while starting Photoshop after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc.
