Photos not opening in PS from LR with locked background layer

Hi, 

When I used to edit my photos from lightroom into Photoshop, it would open with the default background locked layer. Now for some reason it's opening as a Layer. I wouldn't mind, but along with this, I often like to select parts of my photo really quickly and press "delete" using content aware, as I hate the process of going through the whole content aware fill - takes 3 times as long. Since this started happening (layer instead of default background layer) I can do the quick delete trick and it's really annoying. 

Anyone know how I can get that back?
