Photos Won't Appear in Favorites Folder

New Here ,
Nov 06, 2018 Nov 06, 2018

Could someone please advise as to why all the photos in my favorites folder don't appear when I'm trying to open a new project. I would say only 1/4 of all photos in my favourites appear in Photoshop/Lightroom.

Cheers

Can you describe your problem with some more details? What is your favorites folder? Where is it? What is your operating system? What version of Photoshop and Lightroom are you using. Sharing screen captures of what you see will help us better understand the issue too.

Hi Theresa,

I am on a MacBook Pro. When I'm on my desktop and click into the photos application, i then go to my albums and then into my favourites album (love heart) and i have 209 photos showing in my album.

When i open Lightroom CC (version 1.5) or Photoshop CC (version 17.0.2) i then try to add photos into the programmes to edit. I select my favourites album although i only have 66 photos showing in the exact same folder i opened above which had 209 photos within it. Could the other 143 photos be hidden somehow?

The photos application syncs your images with Apple’s iCloud. Depending on the iCloud settings, your images may not actually be on your computer. They may be in the cloud. You only see a preview of the image in the Photos application.

There are two different Lightroom applications. Lightroom Classic requires that images be on a hard drive. Lightroom CC puts images in the Adobe Lightroom cloud which is different than Apple’s cloud.

It’s not clear to me how you are trying to go from Apple Photos to Lightroom or Photoshop, but Marja is correct. The images that you want to edit with Photoshop and Lightroom should be organized by folders on a hard drive using the Finder.

If you are unclear about how to create folders and use them to organize your photos, I recommend taking a class at your local Apple store.

What they were both saying. Apple Photos app is not designed to work with photoshop and vice versa. The Apple Photos App is just a generic holding repository to organize your images. It's not meant to talk to Photoshop.

If you would like to use Photoshop, you might want to send the images out of the Photos App first. Save it to a folder somewhere or to your desktop or something first, then open the image in photoshop.

Or better still, just dump using the Photos App and get into Bridge. You can organize all of your images into folders there similar to how you do it in Photos, but you will always have full access to the images and Bridge is designed to talk to Photoshop and Lightroom (as well as the entire Adobe Suite of software), so you can always see all of your images and move seamlessly in and out of the editing software as well.

Do you mean the Apple Photo application? Have exported all the foto's in this favorites folder?

I think it is much easier to work with a 'real' folder in the Finder, instead of a folder in the Photo's app.  Photo's in a folder in Finder will always show up in Photoshop.
