Question

photoshop 20.0.4.. transparency issues on RGB images. bug?

The black area should be transparent. (outlined the image and command J, hide the layers below it).

In cmyk it displays as it is supposed to.

This is happening on the computers at work and at home running the new photoshop.

Older versions work as they are supposed to.

work arounds are not needed for this post.

putting a white layer underneath makes it display properly, but I would rather have photoshop work properly in RGB mode.

any thoughts?

is there a way to report this bug to adobe? it's getting annoying to put a white layer in the file to get the transparency to show up correctly.

thank you Ged, they figured out it was between the graphics processor and the legacy composting. when I turned them both on, the problem went away. Previously I only had the legacy composting on and the processor off. The other guy at work only had the graphics processor on and the composting off. so when we turned both the processor and the composting on, it solved the problem.

the black area has no dot value as if it is actually transparent.  .

when I put a white layer underneath it is displays properly.

I dont use the transparency grid by the way, I find that distracting also.

and like I said, this works fine in CMYK mode.

    Hi

    Try this:

Go to Preferences > Performance and check Use Legacy Compositing. Does that make a difference?
