The real solution is to fix the Spaces Helper.exe crashes! Disable notifications or rename the program are not the best solutions - you will just skip the problem. Adobe needs to fix those error with an update or whatever.

I just purchased Adobe Photoshop CC. I cannot get 2018 to load at all (it hangs when  loading). When I installed 2017, it loads but I get the same error as above and the only way to quit Photoshop is to use Task Manager.

I renamed the Spaces folder to ~Spaces and I still get the above error, but Photoshop seems to start and allow me to load an image or create a new one. Not sure what happens when I start using it.

My  machine is an I7-7700, 16GB RAM, GTX 1060 with 6GB

Has this issue been fixed/resolved yet? I can't get 2018 to load at all, when I load 2017 I get the above error and I have no idea if/when Photoshop may "fail".

Additionally, I do  not have anything from Lavasoft installed.

This is the full event log error (This is from the error I get after renaming the Spaces Folder):

I was also troubleshooting this problem and was not able to fix it with any of the steps above. I got it to stop crashing by going to Edit > Preferences > Camera Raw.. > Performance > Uncheck "Use Graphics Processor"

Computer has a Intel graphics card/display adapter.

The same thing is happening to me and I just purchased photoshop cc today and I haven't been able to use it. I have the same error report. My graphics card was updated to the latest version last night, I updated windows last night. I use Nvidia Geforce GTX 950m graphics card. I also do not have any Lavasoft products installed. When I click photoshop cc it will open a black screen will appear then it will go back to gray and it will not allow me to click on anything at all. It just freezes. Sometimes I got a message saying that photoshop has encountered an error with the display driver, and has temporarily disabled  enhancements which use the graphics hardware. As soon as I close that message it freezes up. I have also went into my Nvidia control panel and added photoshop to run on the Nvidia graphics processer. I don't know what to do as I am completely new to photoshop. Has anyone found a solution?? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try to rename the following folder:

       C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC 2017\Required\Plug-ins\Spaces

    to:

      C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC 2017\Required\Plug-ins\~Spaces

I.e. put a tilde (~) in front of the word "Spaces"

    Hello,

I am getting the same error. I have been successfully using the program for almost one year. I tried getting to live chat as I pay the monthly fee for creative cloud photoshop. I cannot get a link to do live chat for it no matter what. I am getting desperate as I have a bit project due.

I should also mention that I do not have Lavasoft installed.

    Thanks.

I'm having a similar issue where when i go to use the refine and mask tool it will black out then return with a black screen and that is all it will do.  I have to kill the program with task manager.

I have updated the video driver, windows updates and Adobe photoshop update.

    I'm using the following:

    Windows 10

    32 GB RAM

    10 TB in a RAID 5 configuartion with a 239GB C: \ drive

my scratch disk are on the D:\ and F: drive moved from C:\

space on the drives are good.

The error in Event Viewer when this happens is:

Faulting application name: Adobe Spaces Helper.exe, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x57fde35d

Faulting module name: libcef.dll, version: 3.2526.1347.0, time stamp: 0x572d0cf0

I've tried using the refine tool from both the menu (select > refine and mask) and from the bar, neither works.

Would like to get this resolved asap.

    Thanks

If this is related to Spaces, then I would recommend looking at the Lavasoft link above.

Alternative, find "Spaces" inside the plug-ins folder and rename it to "~Spaces"

I did not have lavasoft installed.

I did however renamed the spaces folder and spaces.generate.

    Also I turned off:

    General> Show Messages

    Performance>Use Graphic Processor

Plugins>Allow Extensions to Connect to the Internet

    Plugins>Load Extensions Panels.

I will be undoing each of these one at a time to see if the issues still happens.

Basically the same problem here. Random opening an image and basically PS freezes at the UI. I have to kill it with Windows task manager. Next boot, it throws up a dialog that the GPU has been disabled.

But, I found the same crash happens when I leave GPU off!
Not able to isolate a cause. I have the latest Nvidia drivers and CC version...
Really starting to hate Adobe CC...it's has all the robust feel of Netscape 6.

It could be Lavasoft that is causing this crash.

Try to follow the instructions on the following page:

Photoshop crashes with Lavasoft Chrome extension installed

I'll check it again but I do not have any products from Lavasoft.
