Photoshop 2020 cannot open files using Open command

I recently discovered some problems in Photoshop 2020.
I cannot open an existing file on my computer using the Open command from File Menu.

When I try to use the Open command, I receive the following message: Could not complete the Open command because of a program error.

I cannot not open documents I'm already working on.

It's no problem if I'm creating a new document, but I can't save the newly created document.
When I use the Save as command, nothing happens. Basically, if I keep working it is impossible to save what I'm working on.
I uninstalled Photoshop from my Adobe account and installed it again but the problem still persists!

Has anyone recently encountered such problems?

Which operating system?

When Photoshop starts acting weird, try resetting Preferences.  It fixes most problems.

Are you using the latest Photoshop version 21.x?

There are some known compatibility issues on Catalina that you should be aware of.

Hi there,

That should not be happening, as you're getting a program error in Photoshop everytime you try to opena  file, could you please let us know the operating system you're on?

Please try the steps shared by Nancy and let us know how it goes.

Also, where are the files stored local drive or external drive/network? If the files are stored externally or ona network, try moving them to the local drive and then try opening a file to see if it works.

Regards,
Sahil

I followed the steps indicated by Nancy but doesn't work. I cannot open a file from my computer.

I made a new document and saved it in my Adobe cloud storage. The document was saved in the cloud storage and I can open it from there.
The problems remain with saving and opening files on the local drive.

Does your computer user profile have full administrative level permissions?

Can you open files from other applications?
