Photoshop 2020 not opening files on Windows 10

Hi everyone!

I was trying to fix something real quick in Photoshop but it would not open my file. The program would load like normal but after loading there would only be a blank white page with the close button being the only option. If I close it, the file would randomly load and then the program will close immediately after. I've checked my other Photoshop files and they're all doing the same thing. The problem is also happening with my Illustrator and Indesign files too.

I had just used Illustrator like normal earlier today so I'm not for sure what happened in between a couple of hours of not using my computer. I've updated, uninstalled/installed, restarted my computer, repeat. I’m currently using Photoshop 21.1.2, Illustrator 24.1.2, and Indesign 15.0.1 on Windows 10. I took some screenshots of what happens when trying to open one of my Photoshop and Illustrator files.

If anybody knows what's happening, please let me know and thank you!

Hi there,

We are sorry about the experience with Photoshop due to the files not opening. Would you mind checking if your computer recently went through a Windows update? Also, please check if you have dual graphics cards on the computer and if the drivers for it were auto updated recently.

If you launch Photoshop directly, do you get a black screen as shown in the screenshot or does the app open properly?

Hi Nikunj,

I checked my updates and my computer did recently update the entire system. I uninstalled the update, manually reinstalled the update, restarted my computer, and all my programs are working properly now. 🙂
