Photoshop 2020 - "Saving as" issue with PSD file when over writing a Jpeg on macOS Catalina

Looking around this site I found the same issue but not resolved. Other posts on this subject were redirected to photoshop family (what ever that is).

So the problem is

If Im just overwriting a previous PSD file by using the Save as function, all works fine.

Its when I change the format to JPEG and try and overwrite an existing JPEG is where the problem is.

The Jpeg cant be over written. A copy of the file will be made. So now I have the old version and the new one with _copy.jpeg after it.

I realise it started happening around the update of Mac OS Catalina last year. So its been a while and I havent seen any fixes on the problem. 

I know there are workarounds like using the export function but it adds extra time to the work load. 

Ive updated PS to the latest 21.1.3 and it still has the problem.

Will there be a fix soon?

We are sorry about the experience with Photoshop due to the issue while trying to over write Jpegs. This is a known issue which was introduced after the release of macOS Catalina. Our product team is working on fixing this with Apple but we do not have an official timeline on when a fix for this would be released.
