Photoshop 2020 slow!

Community Beginner ,

Since updating to Photoshop 2020 it just lags and is so slow, any action is just beachballing for 20 seconds plus, ruining my workflow. Tried reverting back to 2019 but I cant create gifs from that as it just errors every time. Sort it out Adobe we are paying you a lot of money, it's a joke!

My machine is a fast one also - late 2017 imac with 4.2ghz i7, 512GB SSD, 24GB RAM and Radeon 575

This is a user Forum, so you are not really addressing Adobe here, even though some Adobe employees thankfully have been dropping by.

What have you done for performance so far?

Anyway I am afraid that MacOS Catalina and Photoshop can provide for a very bad combination … but I cannot truthfully assess which party is mainly at fault here, Macintosh or Adobe.

I've tried everything I could find on the internet, nothing worked, even uninstalling the app - however, I unintstalled the app for a second time and this time I opted to not keep preferences etc, and this seemed to work for now, the performance is back to normal. Maybe the preferences file got corrupted somehow?

If it should happen again you can try restoring the prefeneces without re-installing.

I actually tried that and it didn't work. It only seemed to work with a full clean install.
