Photoshop 2021 on Old CPU

I have issues if I try to run Photoshop 2021 (22.3)

- it crashes on loading images.

- If I go to preferences I get "Could not Complete the General Command because of a program error"
- Same message box on "System Info " command

I have tried re-installing Photoshop 2021
Photoshop 2020 runs OK (21.2.6)

I am running an old computer with:
- Intel i5 2500K processor (Has the required 64 bit support and SSE 4.2)
- The internal HD Graphics 3000 (I understand does not support the required DirectX 12)
- 16GB memory (Plenty of memory)

I will be upgrading my computer at some point, but was not planning on doing so quite yet.

From the Photoshop minimum requirements changes from Photoshop 2020 to Photoshop 2021, I am guessing it is the GPU requirements (DirectX 12) that it is possibly failing on. But if this was the case I would expect it to notice this obvious deficiency and blatantly tell me my system is unsupported.

I am wondering if adding a separate Graphics card will get me going again?

Does anyone out there use a similar old processor but with an external GPU successfully on Photoshop 2021?

I just wanted to find out before going to the trouble of getting a suitable Graphics card to try.

Thanks in Advance,
Mark.

The Intel HD Graphics 3000 is indeed not supporting DirectX 12 and overall too weak. It doesn't have dedicated VRAM. Do try updating your graphics drivers and disable graphics acceleration in the Preferences (here's how).

The processor should be okay, though.
