Photoshop 2022 Layer Effects

Since recent versions returning to layer Effects panel does not show what layer effects are applied already. As example I often use color overlay. Give layer a coilor overlay and close layer. On reopening of dialog the layer effects does not show that color overlay is applied. PS 23.3.1 / MAC OS 12.3.1 (21E258).

Hi @DESTRUCTO I tried with one layer and still cannot reproduce. I added a color overlay layer effect, closed the layer style dialog, and then reopened the Layer Style dialog. The checkbox was still present for Color Overlay:

Let me know if you're seeing something different.

I'm a little stumped as to what could be going. One thing to try:

Let's make sure we're in a default state and there are no stale setting somewhere:
Restore your preferences using this manual method:
https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/preferences.html#Manually
Does it work correctly?
If that doesn't solve it, you can quit Photoshop and put the Settings folder back.
If it does solve the problem, I would like to get the folder of settings to try and figure out what is bad with them.

I found that if the image is one layer the check marks for the layer effects applied don't show. If I add a second layer, even an empty one below the layer then the check marks showing layer effects applied to layer do show as previous versions of PS did.

@DESTRUCTO sorry, cannot reproduce. Here's what I see.

Can you provide additiaonl details on steps to repo, screenshots, or a screen recording of the behavior you're seeing?
