Photoshop 2022 Select and Mask not working with pen tool

I have a problem that when I use selection in PS 2022 with pen tool or with selection tools like rectangle or cirle I can't use hair separation in Select and mask, this I can do with Quick Selection Tool and Magic Wand

But the Quick Selection Tool and the Magic Wand sometimes take areas I don't need
