Struggling student here whose struggles have become exponentially worse due to Photoshop ceasing to function on my computer in the middle of finals. These are all the things I've already tried:
The 23.3.1 is what started it all
Restarted my computer a ton of times
Gave photoshop 77% of RAM instead of the default 70%
Disabled graphics processor
Deinstalled and reinstalled the entire creative cloud
Tried to move it onto my external hard drive
Basically every trick I've found on here that I can't remember at this point because I've been trying to fix it for 2 weeks
It only gets worse and worse. At first it would freeze after I opened more than 3 photos and I would have to force quit. Then everytime I changed documents it would freeze. When I zoomed in it would freeze. Became super slow and laggy when opening. Instead of the blue box that appears when you're transforming a photo, it's a dotted line with white dots that moves around like something from the 90s. Now I have reinstalled photoshop 2021 which was going fine but I can't select things by clicking on them, I have to select it by layer which still isn't condusive to workflow.
These are my specs:

I don't know if I just got lucky or what but after trying many different recommendations and adjusting settings here there and everywhere, I came across the suggestion to Disable Font Preview. Did that, and my Photoshop seems to be happy and running normally again. I dunno if that will last but it's good for right now.

When things stop working..... I take the following steps.
1. Make sure that my Creative Cloud Apps are all up to date.
2. Check the drivers on my tablets to see if they are up to date.
3. Unplug all devices and replug them in.
4. Check to see if my computer has an update. Usually, that is what solves it.
If the problem persists then it could be something else. But usually, these four steps tend to solve all issues.
