Photoshop 2022 won't right click on tools Mac

My Mac & Photoshop is all up to date with the latest versions but now everytime I try to right click on a tool it won't bring up the other options inside the tool.

Does anyone have any ideas why this might be? It's been working fine up until this week.

Hello tried this also in the end had to do a full install so anoying woking again thank you for yuoir help regards David

I see that you've already reset your preferences.

What happens when you use the keyboard (command-click) to access the contextual menus?

This has happened a few times over the last month i have reset photoshop completly still not working comeback CS6 never lost a minute of work yeasr ago now its nothing but hassle ! thank you

I don't know, but before you reset preferences:

Does Control+Click work? (Control+Click is the equivalent of right-click and has worked since the days of the one-button mouse.)
Does right click work in other places? (You didn't say, and it could be a mouse setting.)
Does press and hold (long-press) work?
And last: are there triangles in the lower-right corner of the tools you are trying this on? (Apologies if this is obvious.)

Are you sure there is at least one secondary Tool?

Could you please post screenshots with the pertinent Panels (Toolbar, Layers, Options Bar, …) visible?

Does click-holding work?
