Photoshop 2024, hate it!

I just bought, upgraded, and downloaded Photoshop 2024.  When I open it I see the usual Photoshop tool bars but I also see my MacBook Pro desktop in the work area!  The tool bars just ring around my desktop icons.  Very fustrating.

How do I get the normal Photoshop background back?

Thx...

You can use the classic gradient mode, check the toolbar options as below:

The whole app is messed up! When adding a type layer, It keeps adding previous deleted type overlays to my file,  at a mouseclick, that I cannot delete.. So, each time I have to start with a new file over and over again!

Today Windows did an  update and photoshop jumped on board and updated. I lost everything, presents, brushes, textures, everything. May leave and throw in the towel.

I hate it, I hate it, I hate it

It seems to take twice as long to do anything and they have ruined all my favourite tools. The gradient tool, I mean WTH have they done to it. I keep going back to older and older versions, but it seems I can't go back far enough.

What else is out there? Is it time to start looking for something else.

Go to the Window menu, and right at the bottom uncheck Application Frame.  Or maybe the other way round (I am a Windows kind of a guy.)

This looks pretty good for one of my problems.

However, in Photoshop 2024 I can't find "Perferences".

Also, how can I make .jpg my default extension when I go to "Save As"?  The only option I get is the standard Photoshop extension.  If I want to post my photos on a fourm somewhere most only take .jpg.
