Photoshop 2024 Will Not open images intermittently

About every sixth time I am in Photoshop 2024 25.9.0 I click Open and all the images names are greyed out. I have upgraded to the most recent version of Photoshop 2024 and that did not help. So every time this happens, I have to quit Photoshop and open it again to be able to open an image.

Are your images stored on an internal or external hard drive? It's possible there may be an issue with the drive connection.

they are stored on my computer not an external drive...
