Question

Photoshop 21.0 cannot parse the file error when opening .CR2 file

Just upgraded to the version 21, but no Camera Raw, no Lightroom can not read the raw files:

Could not open “IMG_1962.CR2” because the file-format module cannot parse the file. Previos version worked without problems.

The screenshot is small, but I believe it shows you are using MacOS X. What version of MacOS X are you using? The system requirements are 10.13 (High Serra) or later now.

Photoshop does not support RAW file.  Photoshop 2020 should use ACR Adobe Camera RAW plug-in version 12 which should be installed with Photoshop 2020. I have no problem opening CR2 RAW files in Photoshop 2020 on Windows 10.

I have Camera Raw 12 installed and it can  see but not open raw files. That is the issue. Before the update to version 21 everything was ok.

Hi There,

That does not sound good, let's make it right.

As you're getting an error about parsing the file  in Photoshop 21.0, does it happen with every file or some specific files/format?

Also, are you able to open the file in any other application?

You may have a look at this article and see if it helps. http://dailyblogging.org/howto/solve-the-file-format-module-error-in-photoshop/

I can see my raw files in all apps but not the Lightroom and Camera Raw.
