After PS updated to 22.1.1 I noticed my preferences have been removed. Where are they and how can i restore them. Not sure yet if my burshes and dozens of other dozens of other customizations are also missing.

System is Windows 10 Pro, 32GB RAM, 4GB NVIDIA graphics card

There is a checkbox in the installer to migrate preferences. Apparently you missed it.

But actually that's not necessarily a good idea. Preferences get corrupted easily, because they are rewritten on every application exit. So errors accumulate, unlike read-only program files. And corrupt preferences can cause strange and unpredictable behavior. With the changes in a new version, the risk increases.

So personally, I prefer to set up preferences fresh. What you need to do is save out the important stuff in advance, the things you can't easily recreate, like actions and custom brushes. You can still do that if you open the old version and save out.
