PHOTOSHOP 23.1.1: just updated as of Jan 19, 2022 and the content aware fill continues to crash. This has been going on for 9 months. I have a high end, up to date Dell. This was never a problem until 9 months ago. It does not generate crash reports. You hit APPLY or OK and after a 5 second pause, the program just vanishes.

windows 10, 64 gigs ram. high end graphics card. 500 meg ssd

please fix this

Short of getting a crash report somehow, let's double-check that there isn't a stale setting:

Restore your preferences using this manual method:
https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/preferences.html#Manually
Does it work correctly?
If that doesn't solve it, you can quit Photoshop and put the Settings folder back.
If it does solve the problem, I would like to get the folder of settings to try and figure out what is bad with them.

Thanks again Jeff,

Yes, your solution fixed my problem.

I went to
Windows: Choose Edit > Preferences > General

Reset All Warning Dialogs

and

Reset preferences on Quit

Then I restarted and tried about 5 content aware fills and THEY ALL WORKED.

thanks so much

Thanks Jeff.

1. "use OpenCL" was already unchecked.

2. I unchecked "use graphics processor", closed photoshop, reopened it, and it still crashed.

The graphics processor is a high end M5000M Nvida quatro.

NOT FIXED.

Any other ideas?

thanks

Please try the following:

  1. Go to Preferences > Performance and click on the "Advanced Settings" button. Uncheck Use OpenCL, restart Photoshop and try your steps to see if the problem persists.
  2.  If disabling OpenCL doesn't work, go to Preferences > Performance... and uncheck Use Graphics Processor. Restart Photoshop. Does the problem persist?
