Photoshop 23.5 text tool bug

Yesterday i've update photoshop from 23.4.2 to 23.5. Today i performed a rollback because if i try to edit a text layer the whole content become full black.

Just perform those steps to see the bug:

1) create a new (empty) document (doesn't matter the size)

2) select the text tool

3) click on the content window

Note that if you press some key and exit from editing (changing tool) the text is visible: if yu try to change the text (using text tool) the content window will become black.

I'm using photoshop on a macStudio with macOS 12.5.

Of course photoshop 23.4.2 works fine.

Hi, i've done the following steps:

1) i made a backup of folder /Users/marco/Library/Preferences/Adobe\ Photoshop\ 2022\ Settings

i've seen some "strange" files

so i deleted them from the setting folder (not from the backup: i've still them!!)

2) i click on the UPDATE button inside the Creative Suite application

3) so i started photoshop then i've done THE SAME TEST:

- new document 1024 x 1024
- select the text tool
- click inside the white canvas

ALL IS WORKING FINE

I've tried too using the same psd file when i had the issue: all is working fine.

I'm a software developer: i don't think that the problem was the file i've deleted but i suppose that the reinstallation of 23.5 has solved the issue.

I hope that photoshop will continue to work fine.

So i tried uninstalling and reinstalling several times to see if it fixed the issue, it did not. the problem occured on my macbook and my imac. however i bought a new mac comptuer and it seems to work so far. maybe thats the only solution. ......just buy a new computer... (scarcasim)

23.5.1 says up to date on my All Apps. Doing the same stupid thing. Adobe should just fix and not waste fee paying people's time answering or having to read stupid questions...respect???

So I tried the steps from Marco and it's not working on my end. The only thing that seemed to work for me is to go to PS Preferences > Performance and turn off "Use Graphics Processor". Then restart PS.

Not happy that this is the only thing that works for me though. I just updated to 23.5.1 which did not fix the issue. I'm gonna try and roll back a few versions to see what happens.

Yes, it did mot help. I rolled back a version and it solved the issues. text tool worked as per normal.

i recently tried updating it again, and the problem is still there so i reverted yet back again.

on different note, in the previous version, whats wrong with the artboard names. it keeps disspearing.

I have the same issue. after updating to 23.5 photoshop, everytime i try to type something it blackouts the entire screen. you can still type and resize but youre doing it blind.

Yes, I had same issue. I've solved making a rollback to the previous version then upgrade again (using the Adobe Creative Clous App, the one on the mac menu)

Very *BAD* news.. I've that issue AGAIN! Black window canvas with Photoshop 23.5.0! I'll rollback to previous version waiting for a new version to test AGAIN (is a waste of time)

seems that Adobe and Apple works in the same way: never install a new version of a software until 2 or 3 releases!

Does it work correctly?

If that doesn't solve it, you can quit Photoshop and put the Settings folder back.

It may help if we could see your Photoshop System Info. Launch Photoshop, and select Help >System Info...and copy/paste the text in a reply.
