Photoshop 24.4.1 for Mac won’t save as a JPEG

I am working with large layered TIFF files, then eventually, I save as JPEGs for more reasonable sizes. I can no longer do that directly through the Save As window, or even as Save A Copy. The best workaround (which is stupid and sucks), is to change my settings for Quick Export to JPEG from PNG, and do it that way. There's not even a key command.

Exporting a file to JPEG is hardly a niche need. [Cursing removed by moderator]

Correct answer David McCarty

I was able to fix it, but for whatever reason, there was a problem with that one file. I don't think it was corrupt on my end, this is a file I've been using fine until the update. But I resolved the issue.

Hi @David McCarty

It may help if we could see your Photoshop System Info. Launch Photoshop, and select Help >System Info...and copy/paste the text in a reply.

Hi @David McCarty can you share a screenshot of your file options when you go to Save As?

I did find something. There was an asterisk next to 8bit. That usually means unsaved changes but I can't get it to go away.

I have an RGB/8 bit image layered as a TIFF. I changed the settings to enable "Legacy Save As" and restarted PS. Nothing changed. Still no jpeg option.

Actually, that didn't work either. So far, I am unable to export a PS file as a jpeg. What is the world coming to?

Hi @David McCarty save a copy should show jpg as long as the bit depth is correct. Try going to preferences/File Handling and enable "Legacy Save As" to add jpg to the Save As option.
