Photoshop 3D--can't use brush

After importing an obj file, when I hit "b" or select a brush tool, I pop out of 3D mode. I can paint on the model, but it's frozen in the 2D. No more rotate or translate options available. I'm using PS 21.1.2

This tool worked fine a few months ago.

1, you imported a Obj [into what?] or just opened it?

2, what is frozen in 2D i.e, the texture | UV map or something else?

best chance for help is to share the Photoshop file with this Obj so we can test if its just buggered at your end

Hi Ussnorway.

When I OPEN the obj file with Photoshop, I am in 3D mode. I can move around the object using the 3d world viewport. But as soon as I activate a brush to paint onto the 3D object, I pop out of the 3D viewport. I am in a 2D world. I can paint on the face that shows, but I can't spin the object around to continue to paint.

Does that make more sense?
