Photoshop & Zoom when first opening the program

Hey,

This is a weird occurance, and it's kind of minor so I never really considered it, but I suppose over time it's become a hassle.
If I close Photoshop entirely, and re open it later in the day (or the first time in the morning), the very first time I open it - create/open a canvas - and zoom in using my tablet pen (I think mouse, too, but I never use it) the zoom doesn't work correctly at all.  There's no smoothness to it, it zooms in incredibly quick and I can only go in - not out, no matter what I try.  There's also no 'animation' to it, too.
I have to close Photoshop, and reopen it, which causes it to act perfectly normally.

I assume this has something to do with OpenGL not being 'on' the first time I open Photoshop, but it's a box I've always had ticked, so I'm really not sure why this happens, especially considering all I need to do is restart the program.
I've tried Googling every now and then, but it's weirdly specific, I suppose, so no luck.

Any help is appreciated -- I used to have a nVidia GPU and the same occured, but I now have an AMD, if that could be the potential cause.  It'd just be nice for it to work properly first try, it's grated on me over time, I guess, haha.

Thanks in advanced.

Correct answer Kevin Stohlmeyer

Turn off Use open GL then go to Technology preview and check "deactivate use native canvas".

Let me know if that made a difference.

Can you send your specific graphics card setup? Do you mean you have both running or replaced with AMD?

Can you send a screenshot of your performance preferences?

Thanks

Sorry, I mean I just have the one AMD card, now.  I'm just reasonably certain it used to happen with a nVidia card, too!

& here is my performance preferences!

I had to update Photoshop to find this "deactivate use native canvas" setting (i had left un-updated after an update borked my pen pressure notepad thing, but this was still happening well before that) but upon doing that, along side the open CL (I couldn't find GL, only CL) & giving it a couple of days to be 100% sure, I believe you've fixed it!

Thank you very much, it was becoming a real pain after such a long time, even with PS on an SSD. I appreciate your time!!
