Photoshop animation resolution

New Here ,
Jan 18, 2020 Jan 18, 2020

Hello!

I need to create a high quality photo sequence, so I created desired animation in Photoshop timeline. However, when I try to export it, PS only allows me to export png files with the 'x' size max 5000. When I try video setting, the highest resolution is 4K. How can I export it to be 9K?

Many thanks,

D.T.

I beleive with png you are hitting the ceiling of that format. Try tiff. It seams to be more leanient. Once the sequence is exported then you can use premeier or after effects to generate the video. This should bypass the video limit.
Its been awhile since I have worked with video and sequences, so I am taking some assumptions (a by product of getting older)

Export>render video>Mp4 should work and produce single well encoded file and require less disk space.  A 4k Frame size is 3840x2160.  Your frame width size 5000 is larger than 4k and may not be supported yet 8K is not here yet. Photoshop only has a subset of Adobe media encoder and only has a few output presets the largest is 4K. You may want to look into Adobe Animate I don't what it supports I do not install it. 9K??? what for? Are you being confused  by 9K network packets?

I tried to do the same thing in Premiere as I did in Photoshop Timeline but Premiere couldn't handle such a resolution easily compared to PS which ran smoothly. I've also experienced a lot of errors while exporting through Premiere. But I can try Animate.

What would you even do with 9k? At this point, unless you are super rich and have a secret Samsung prototype TV in your bedroom there is no way to play this resolution natively on any consumer device nor does any current CoDec actually support such resolutions full format. If it is supposed to be played on a professional projection or multi-segment video wall, then completely different procedures are required and you can't hack your way through Photoshop, anyway. It might be helpful to actually clarify your stance on what you are trying to do with this and educate yourself about options.

Yes. It is supposed to be for multi-segement wall running on SAGE2 system. I need to create js/html application or site and SAGE is able to run it. I don't think I'm hacking my way through photoshop. What else should I use/do ? I have 9K photographs which can be displayed just like that but I wanted to animate them to make them look more interesting and pleasing.

You can't circumvent the underpinnings - it uses plain web browser technology and that's at best 4k using HEVC/ H.265 on a Chromium- or Mozilla-based browser. I'm in fact not even sure if it actually supports this as this may require mandatory DRM. Images are a completely different story. Therefore you have to adapt your expectations and workflows. Rendering that 4k file file from Photoshop or for that matter any video app is likely as good as it gets if it's even possible and your server can actually play it. There may of course be other ways to play slideshows with zero delay via some JavaScript/ HTML canvas functionality, but that's an entirely different story unrelated to PS.
