Question

Photoshop automatically closes when trying to open a psd file or Camera Raw.

I installed Ps 2018 and it would not work AT ALL.  I then re-installed the 2017 version and it's still not working but it will open a file when clicking a PSD file or opening through Camera RAW. The problem is the file opens and then Photoshop crashes immediately.  It's sending reports to Adobe but I need to work.  What can I do?

I found a solution for my particular issue and posted it on my thread here: PS CC 2018 and 2017 crash when opening a file or doing File->New

It had to do with the windows "display driver" for my particular hardware not being compatible with Adobe's heavy demands on the graphics processor and it shows how to "roll it back" to a previous version (which worked for me).

I reported the same issue here: PS CC 2018 and 2017 crash when opening a file or doing File->New

It's extremely frustrating to not be able to contact Adobe Support humans about this.  I'm on an Enterprise CC, but my company's help desk can only send me to the Adobe support pages which will only send me to the forums.  I was perfectly content to use my creaky old non-CC 5.5 on my old Windows 7 laptop.  But now, with my new Lenovo T470 and new Windows 10, I'm stuck.  Work is piling up, and I can't access my PSD files.  C'mON Adobe!
