so i go into photoshop and load the photo from my hard drive (i have done this on multiple different mass storage devices and) i do my edits and flatten the image and go to export it as a jpg back onto the hard drive the file will begin to save but photoshop will get stuck saving it at some number percent and then stop and ive left it forever and still no more progress so i look at the file on the hard drive and the file looks like it got half loaded and then stopped. half this image is there the rest is just gray and gone i can even open the image in preview and that is how it appears. even with photoshop still trying to save the file i can keep working on the app but cant save to my drive. i have then gone on the computer moved the files to my desktop and onto flash drives and done the same thing in photoshop saving the images in the same place as the original and it works in a snap. i had also just bought a new hard drive to test this and it messed up again. i guess what is the issue does anyone else have this issue or does this maybe have to do with a combination of the computer. i have a 2015 macbook pro and the issues happened as soon as i upgrade to the new macos catalina does this have to do with the os? what do i do please help

Hi there,

Sorry to hear that file saving process is getting stuck, are you able to save the file to the local drive?

Also, what exact version of Photoshop are you working on? You can check the version by going to Help > System Info.

Could you try the steps mentioned below and let us know if it helps?

  • Open System Preferences.
  • Select Security & Privacy.
  • Click the lock to make changes, then enter your system user name and password for your computer.
  • Select Privacy from the top set of tabs, then select Accessibility from the left-hand column of options.
  • Click the + (plus) button under the list 'Allow the apps below to control your computer'.
  • Navigate to the Applications folder and select the Photoshop application and click Open.

The System Preferences dialog setting for Photoshop should look similar to the image below with Photoshop added and checked:
mac_SystemPrefsAccessibility.jpg

Grant access to Photoshop

  • Click the lock to prevent further changes. Relaunch Photoshop.

Let us know if you're able to save the file after performing the steps mentioned above.

Regards,
Sahil

You cannot save to an exFAT formatted drive. Its a known bug. Either format the drives for Mac or save to an internal drive and copy over in the Finder.
