Photoshop CC 2015 Has Stopped Working

hi

I have this problem that seems to be snowballing lately. CC2015 (trial version) will not run, it gives the the error message "Photoshop CC 2015 Has Stopped Working". This also happens with Corel Painter 2015, and a few plug-ins for Photoshop, namingly "Topaz Impressions" 64-bit. I'm at my wits end with this one. The common factor is that they are all graphics applications, so my research has led me to believe this is a graphics driver problem. But I've went through as many suggested fixes as I possibly can, including running in safe mod, etc, and nothing works. I've even tried resetting the prefs as CC2015 is attempting to load up (holding down shift, etc) - but no good. Here's my specs:

-Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit, 16GB RAM

-Motherboard: Asus Z87-A

-Graphics Card: onboard 4600 graphics driver set (latest version has been installed - also rolled back to original drivers that came with motherboard CD; neither of them work)

(infact, when I try to run the Intel Driver Update Utility, the same error message appears and it won't run)

-NET Framework 4.5.2 (latest version) is installed

..I don't know what to do at this point other than wiping out my hard drive and re-installing Windows - something I really would rather avoid. I have CS6 installed and it runs perfectly - but it was installed over a year ago. It seems that anything recent won't run if it's graphics related. But my graphics drivers are current.

Anyone ever run into this before?

Good news: I have solved the problem, hopefully my solution will work for everyone else who is also having this problem.

    Fault Module Name: MSVCR120.dll

the above filename was what appeared to be crashing Photoshop CC2015.

My solution was to install Service Pack 1 for Windows 7.

For anyone having similar crash problems, and do not have SP1 installed, first un-install CC2015, then install SP1, then re-install CC2015.

Good luck, I hope this works for other users as well

goto C:\Users\ALI\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC 2015\Adobe Photoshop CC 2015 Settings

and then Delete Adobe Photoshop CC 2015 Prefs

Running Windows 10 (argh!)   I don't get an error message but the paintbrush just stopped working normally last night.  No idea what happened.  I was using it pretty much all day and it was working fine; then it just stopped working when I was trying to tweak a photo.

I am having this problem once again. I have Win 7 Sp1 instaled, updated the graphics card and deleted Ps CC 2015 preferences, uninstalled, andr reinstalled PS several times, reboots, and i still can't start photoshop. The same error. I don't know what to try anymore. Does anyone have a solution?

Hello, i believe i am having the same problem. I have Windows 7 Professional with 8GB RAM. I just reinstalled my windows. Today i installed the Creative Cloud app. Also Photoshop CC (2015) and Bridge CC. Photoshop does not start (i checked task manager and Ps process appears only for a second and disappears) and i get no error. Bridge runs fine, but sometimes when i close it i get an error, like the one in the thread. Do you believe i should reinstall Windows?

Hello you do not need to reinstall Windows checks to see if you have installed Service Pack 1. Eventually you just install SP1 .

yep, seems like I've been running for about 2 1/2 years without SP1 installed - and never knew it. The only problems I ever had were the few apps that were crashing on startup- and even that was only 3 or 4 apps in total. Installing it has fixed those problems now.

As far as Windows 8 goes, I have no idea what is causing the crash on that one. The things I tried were installing SP1, installing/un-intsalling/rolling back the .NET Framework versions, trying to see if the problem persists in safe mode, and a few others - anything to help pinpoint something.

most of my other apps that were experiencing the same problem are now working as well. So it seems that the lack of SP1 was the culprit (at least on my system).

Seems like such a routine troubleshooting tip: to ensure that we have SP1 running. Yet I've never seen that solution being mentioned anywhere, not even on other software forums. I'm killing myself for not having thought of that earlier, and not realizing that I never had it installed in the first place (i thought I had it installed all along, but it turns out that I didn't). Hope this is a help for everyone else too

    Hi,

Thanks for reporting back on the OS update success. The system requirements for Photoshop CC 2015 are Win7 SP1 or Win8.1. (System requirements | Photoshop)

    regards,

I've had Windows 7 Sp1 installed for quite some time and I am still getting this error.

I have just started testing Photophot CC 2 days ago, and all was ok, until it updated to CC 2015 yesterday. Well, now I'm getting this same error: Adobe Photoshop CC 2015 has stopped working. I am able to open the program and I'm able to use it. The error occurs when I try to save work or when I try to close the program.

    The event log:

Provide the crash event info, even the one for your corel stuff. if it's that widespread, it's clearly of a more global systemic nature.
