Opening Photoshop, creating a new document, trying to export as...

It chooses GIF as default (probably because that was the last I used). The image is loaded, then dissapears. Changing to jpg, png,... does not work, exporting does not work.

Export as Not working issue resolved...let me know if this works for you guys too...

Those who are curios about this problem. here is how i resloved it in my org. Dont ask how it works....but it really worked, I have tried this on three diffrent computers having same issue and done the following (For windows users only not sure how is this on Mac):

    Step 1-  Go to C:\Users\USER NAME\AppData\Roaming\Adobe
Step 2 - Rename the  Adobe Photoshop CC folder by adding _old ( Basically this just resets the profile of the user)
Step 3- restart the Photoshop ( It will create new profile in the Users folder )
Once the new profile folder is created you are ready to rock and roll. Just right click on the layer and select export as .....it should work....

    All the best...

Hello I have the same problem with Adobe CC 2022 but it is not always like this, I noticed that it happens to some files only but cannot recognize the pattern

This is the window that I have, it says no valid assets but I could not find any warnings

it was only a 4 layers file so I don't understand why it cannot export

Just got this issue today also

Tried resetting preferences & reinstalling Photoshop, but neither helped

Trying the given answer didn't help, it just made the blank Export As menu not show up at all instead

I have a similar issue. I can export as when i right click in the layers menu, but when i choose File>export as or short key  ctrl+alt+shift+w , the save box appears but with no image inside and the export button doesnt do anything, it just lights blue when i click it. Any ideas ? i have reset my prefs using the rename method.

There is another reply about deleting "appdata roaming" stuff.  Of course that is Windows advice.  For me, on MacOS Sierra, I have had the same issues with 'Export As'.  I went into these folders and found lots and lots (lots!) of prefs and folders for old versions of Photoshop, even though I had uninstalled them

    /Users/<username>/Library/Application Support

    /Users/<username>/Library/Preferences

I deleted any folders I found that said Photoshop but was NOT for 2018.  And finally, (finally!) 'Export As' now seems to work again.

(Actually I went nuts deleting anything that looked related to an older version of Adobe software. Here is a full list of files and folders I found and deleted. Maybe some of these will come back to bite me, so far, no ill effects)

I tried what you said and first thought it worked, but think there is a problem with GIF and SVG export.

When the "Export as..." window shows PNG or JPG as the file format when the window opens I can export to PNG or JPG.

Changing the file format to GIF the preview image disappears and the buttons "Export all..." becomes unresponsive.

Changing the file format to SVG the mouse pointer has the spinning wheel attached whenever moving it over the Export As window and the buttons become unresponsive. It never finishes the export to SVG. Only closing the window will get you back to photoshop.

I made a video to show what I mean. It seams it's a specific problem to GIF and SVG (tried ist with different files). Only thing I have not yet tried ist uninstalling photoshop and reinstalling it.

I could not export as, at all, irrespective of file type.

Try a complete uninstall, locate any remaining photoshop folders - delete them all. Then re-install. I tried a number of re installs that were not successful, until I located and removed the app data roaming stuff. See redfishingboat's comments if you have a Mac OS. Yes - the complete re-installs take time, and it is frustrating to do them over and over again - but it finally worked for me and I so far have not had any more problems.

Two nights ago I started experiencing intermittent success with 2017 Photoshop not exporting as - simply give me an error or just keep processing. Weird -I would open and close Photoshop  - work for a bit, and then Photoshop would not export as. By now I am getting really frustrated - I have a class on Monday and I have to teach the students how to Export As.

I read through a lot of posts, tried just about everything, from reinstalling, to holding down control alt shift or whatever it was, and the problem get coming and going. Now getting really frustrated and start looking for free online apps for students to optimize for web.... or isn't this why we pay Adobe for the product??

I updated to 2018 Photoshop and the export as did not work at all. I found a comment about the appdata roaming and did a complete uninstall, discovered that the 2017 & 2018 appdata files were still there, deleted everything in the roaming folder related to both 2017 and 2018 Photoshop and then did a complete reinstall of Photoshop.

Good news and fingers crossed - I can export as again. Have just optimised a 3.9Mb image for an icon for a webpage. Give the above a try. I have no idea why it worked.
