Photoshop CC 2019 Smudge tool lag

Hello everyone!

As the title mentions, I have an issue with a "smudge" tool. Recently I somehow fixed lag with 1000-1200px brushes but unfortunately smudge tool even at 200-300px still lags very hard(~20 sec per line stroke).

Here are the specs:

Adobe PS CC v20.0.5

System:

macOS Mojave (10.14.5)

MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2017)

2.9 GHz Intel Core i7

16 GB 2133 MHz LPDDR3

Macintosh HD

Radeon Pro 560 4 GB / Intel HD graphics 630 1536 MB

Please let me know if there is anything I could do in this particular situation. Maybe you have a similar situation, cheers!

What's the size of the image you're working with?

Well its 14x15 inches which is not that big I guess (1344x1440px). Also, noticed that lag reduces when the artwork is zoomed in.

What are the image’s bit depth and Color Mode?

Have you reset the Tool yet?

What have you done about Photoshop performance so far?

Does increasing the Brush’s Spacing (in the Brush Settings Panel) make a difference?

To answer your question:

1. Bit depth( not sure which parameters are you looking for so I made a screenshot

2. I have not reset the tool, not sure how to, will look it up.

3. I have tweaked the following:

4. Increasing spacing does a little difference however still lags badly.

Thank you so much for all the tips so far!

Does turning off »Use Graphics Processor« in the Performance Preferences (Photoshop > Preferences > Performance > Graphic Processor Settings) and restarting Photoshop have any bearing on the issue?
