photoshop cc 2019 tools do not show size

I recently noticed  that my photoshop tools behaviour changed: they look different and I am frustrated as I cannot see the size of these tools  and the  increase or decrease (when using [] keys) . The dodge tool is just a black circle which does not change shape. I find it impossible to work with this. I tried reset tools to no avail. I cannot see any post related to this either.

What are the Photoshop > Preferences > Cursors settings? 

 

What have you done for trouble-shooting so far? 

Restoring Preferences after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved might be a good starting point:

Thasnk you. You sorted my problem . I changed the settings in cursor to show the brush tip. Why this changed on its own is a mystery to me.
