Photoshop CC 2020 Command + and - magnification changes work wrongly

Explorer ,
Apr 24, 2020 Apr 24, 2020

Since upgrading from Photoshop CC 2018 to CC 2020, using Command + to zoom in and Command - to zoom out now takes me to centre of the canvas rather than being centred on the view I had previously. This very frustrating on large documents where I need to work at high magnifications and quickly zoom in and out to see what I am doing as each change in magnification takes me away from the area where I am working and drops me in the centre of the canvas.

What setting in preferences have I missed to re-enable the old way of using maganification?

Macintosh OS - High Sierra with Photoshop CC 2020.

Thanks but neither setting makes any difference. Zoom is always centred on the canvas instead of my current view.

Hello, do you have overscroll on or off?

I have overscroll on because I need it for other things. Is that the culprit?

It wasn't a problem in CC 2018.

I suggest to search or create a thread on the topic the https://feedback.photoshop.com site, watched by Adobe staff. Make sure to provide as many relevants details as possible. (the combo "overscroll, untabbed" that seems to break the desired zoom to center operation)

Thanks.

Turning Overscroll off sorted out the zoom centering problem, although it did reset my view to the centre of the canvas when I exited the preferences dialogue box!

I can't help thinking this behaviour is a backward step. I had overscroll on in Photoshop 2018 and it didn't affect the centring of the zoom.

Hi,

As long as the image is displayed as a tab, the center of the display will not shift.
If you're viewing in a window, turn off "Zoom Resizes Windows".

Also, "Overscroll" must be turned on.

I find the best way to zoom is not  with the Shortcuts  Ctrl++ and Ctrl+- but to use the Mouse wheel instead.  The Window will not resize  and the image will zoom focus will be from the cursor position. So if I put the cursor over and eye for example I can zoom in and work on the eye using the mouse wheel.
