How do I change the image colors in cmyk to royal blue and white in photoshop?  I am new to this and I am struggling!  Any simple suggestions?  I bought this file from someone and she wasn’t helpful!  Thank you for any help!

A solid color fill layer, set to Color blend mode, will do it - but I have to ask: why CMYK? I ask because a lot of beginners incorrectly think they need CMYK for inkjet printers. But CMYK is strictly for commercial offset print.

Another thing is that CMYK is for advanced users, not for beginners at all. There's a lot of things that can go wrong if you don't know what you're doing. For one thing, you absolutely need to know exactly which CMYK profile is appropriate for the press and paper used. Standards vary and you can't rely on the Photoshop defaults. You have to ask the printer. If the profile is wrong, you get unpredictable color shifts.

I agree with Dag and Dave that RGB is generally the way to go. You also have far more editing options available to you in Photoshop in RGB compared with CMYK.

Photoshop RGB files can also happily be placed in other programs like InDesign, even if the final product is to be exported for commercial printing.

If you absolutely need a CMYK file simply make a duplicate of your completed RGB file and convert that to CMYK.

Or add a Hue/Saturation layer set to Colorize and make it whatever colour you like. I agree with Dag , unless you have a specific reason to work in a specific CMYK colour space - work in RGB.

Ok, so how do I even get it to this? Use the colorization? I have to send the end product off to make a transfer for a T-shirt I’m making.

Hi

You can add the Hue/Saturation adjustment layer in the adjustments panel, or do the same thing by using menu Layer >Adjustment Layer>Hue/Saturation - then tick colorize and move the sliders

Can I work in RGB and switch it to CMYK? I have to switch it to someone to make a transfer for me for a t-shirt.
