Photoshop color picker autoselect hex code

In older versions of Photoshop (using cc 2018 right now) i could use the colorpicker and it would automatically preselect the # code, easy for copy pasting. These days the colorpicker has the # code selected but as soon as I select a color with the picker it deselects the # code and I have to click it again to copy the code.

Is there a way to change this?

    It actually takes the focus off the color picker dialogue box whilst you click elsewhere.

    After selecting the color, clicking anywhere in the color picker dialogue box (except on another input value)  puts the focus back and the hex code is still highlighted
