Hi @ryans32974711 thank you for that files and workflow. It appears to work here as expected, it is very likely your are hitting a RAM issue depending on file size and complexity. 

In your screenshots it apprears you are going to Edit>Fill and then selecting Content-Aware in the dropdown.... have you tried to make your selection and go to Edit>Content-Aware Fill and if that works any differently?

It may help if we could see your Photoshop System Info. Launch Photoshop, and select Help >System Info...and copy/paste the text in a reply.

Give it a test on your side. Here is the source image and the explaination images. It might be a ram issue on my side, but it still shouldn't keep crashing, but rather display an 'Insufficient ram message'.

I take the source image, crop it to display the transparent background, use content aware, and PS crashes.

I then use content aware on the same image with a solid background, but with the image or layers flattened, and content aware works perfectly without crashing.

I'm using Windows 10, with 8gb ram.

I know now to always flatten the image, but it took me a long time to figure that out, and perhaps some other users might not know to do that.

Hi @ryans32974711 sorry to hear this. You mention that this has been happening for months, have you tried rolling back a version or two to see if the crashing stops?
