Photoshop Crashes when Saving Linked photos / Photoshop wont finish save / Photoshop stuck in saving

When I am working in photoshop on a photo that is linked in an open Illustrator or InDesign file, and I save that photoshop file, 80% of the time photoshop gets stuck at saving at 99% and won't finish the save, resulting in that PSD file being corrupted. Illustrator, not knowing what to do, freezes when I try to save the ai file that photo is linked to. I then lose both pieces of work. (illustrator recovers work, but it is from the last save and not before it crashed)

Is anyone experiencing this issue? it is detrimental to my workflow. I really hope, for the adobe's sake, that is it something on my end because this would not be good for them if there was a bug like this.

Which versions of Photoshop and InDesign and OS?

How much RAM do you have, you need at least 16GB for InDesign.
