Hey, @Pixelfunk. Welcome to the Photoshop Community. I'll need more info to help you figure this out. Please share the system info from Photoshop Help > System info > Copy & paste into a text document > upload & attach here.

I couldn't find crash reports submitted with the account you've signed in to the community with. If you see a crash dialogue, submit it with your Adobe ID. Check here for more steps: https://adobe.ly/3Wpjx0B

Also, does the problem exist if you use Photoshop (beta) v25.13.

For now, ensure there are no stale preferences in your Photoshop. Go to the location of the preference folder below and rename it to backup.

  • Windows 10/11: Users/[user name]/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop [version]/Adobe Photoshop [version] Settings
  • You can press Press the Windows key > Enter 'Run' > Enter %APPDATA%\Adobe
  • Rename the Adobe Photoshop folder by adding a .old at the end. (Adobe Photoshop 2024 > Rename > Adobe Photoshop 2024. old), you can later restore these preferences if needed.(https://adobe.ly/4860qM9)
  • Restart the computer.

These changes will give a fresh start to Photoshop as a fresh install. Let me know how it goes.

Thanks!

@Sameer K thanks for the reply....attached the system info....also when you say to rename the folder by adding .old, is it the whole photoshop folder or just the settings folder?

Thank you for sharing the system info. You are using the latest version of Photoshop on Windows 11. When we say rename the folder, just rename the "Adobe Photoshop 2024 Settings" folder and add .old at the end. Restart Photoshop and check if that helps to resolve the crash issue. Else, uninstall Photoshop from your machine, restart your machine and reinstall the application via Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop and let us know if that helps.

Thanks,

Mohit

Hi Mohit...it tried the renaming but was getting a strage issue where photohop would open a file over the top of the 'home' page without showing any icons, tools or the normal layout so ive deleted and re-installed and i'll see if  that solves the issue
